CBD Oil And The Smiling Coast

The Gambia, referred to as the “Smiling Coast” of Africa, is a compact West African country almost entirely surrounded by Senegal aside from its coastline that borders the Atlantic.

The Gambia is a primarily conservative country that takes a hard stance on drug use, trafficking, and drug related violence. Unlike other West African countries, the small port country enforces its laws very consistently and has a dedicated military presence.

Is CBD Oil Allowed In The Gambia?

Recently, the President of The Gambia announced a zero tolerance policy towards illegal substances. Anyone found importing, exporting, or in possession of controlled substances will face strong penalties which range from hefty fines to a minimum of 15 years in prison. The Gambia breached Western media after several Americans were sentenced to 10 years in prison when found entering the country with minimal amounts of high THC hash.

Additionally, airport police and customs officials almost always inspect incoming luggage. There is no guarantee that officials are able to distinguish between marijuana or THC, which is illegal in the country, and strictly CBD products.

Consumers carrying CBD into the country should remain very wary. Medical patients should bring a prescription or doctor’s note them and all their CBD products should be well labeled. When in doubt, CBD patients should contact their nearest Gambian embassy or consulate for legal advice.

High THC compounds, known locally as “yamba” or “tie”, constitute the most widely used illegal drug in the country. In March of 2019, the Minister of the Interior stated that the government is completely opposed to decriminalizing the use of any compound derived from THC, even for medical reasons. Travelers should stick to CBD Isolate products, which contain strictly no THC.

Experts are hopeful that the small port country will reexamine their drug policy as other African countries continually push for more liberal substance laws. Hemp grows naturally in The Gambia, meaning that it could be an economically advantageous cash crop for the burgeoning region.

What Are The Benefits Of CBD Oil Use?

CBD oil has become one of the most popular varieties of CBD based supplements. Highly concentrated and effectively dosed, CBD oils are an easy way for users to receive a reliable treatment for whatever issue they’re addressing.
