CBD Oil In Kosovo

Kosovo, officially the Republic of Kosovo, is a disputed territory in Southeastern Europe. Small and centrally positioned in the Baltic region, Kosovo is nestled between Serbia to the north and Montenegro to the west.

Like all Baltic states, Kosovo has been subject to political and economic instability ever since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Poverty, financial hardship, and recurrent recessions are not uncommon in the variegated territory. Adding to regional instability and confusion, Kosovo is not fully recognized as an autonomous state by its neighbor Serbia. This conflicted understanding of autonomy creates an atmosphere of contentious divisiveness in the region instead of fostering cooperation which might allow the country to address rising issues of drug trafficking, abuse, and drug related violence.

Is CBD Oil Allowed In Kosovo?

Well into the 2000s, Kosovo has been associated with ethnic conflict and organized crime syndicates. High unemployment and limited economic opportunities lead many to join the cannabis industry. Hemp and marijuana are cultivated widely all throughout the country primarily for domestic use.

Similar to other states in the Baltic region, as a conservative culture Kosovo has harsh drug use and trafficking penalties on the books yet has inconsistent enforcement. Possession of minimal amounts of THC compounds such as hash and/or marijuana could land someone more than a decade in prison, while drug trafficking could lead to life imprisonment. However, many users openly consume cannabis in the street, cafes, restaurants, or even grow personal family crops at their residence.

The region’s justice division is usually understaffed and lacks sufficient resources, and law enforcement personnel concentrate their limited time on violent crime rather than drug infractions.

Both hemp and cannabis grow naturally in the region, despite the efforts of law enforcement to destroy these natural crops.

If traveling to the region it is recommended that tourists do not bring their CBD with them or risk harsh penalties as it is unlikely officials will recognize or differentiate between hemp extracts like CBD and psychoactive substances.

What Are The Benefits Of Regular CBD Oil Use?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is one of the many active compounds found in strains of hemp. According to researchers, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid receptor to reduce the body’s potentially harmful autoimmune inflammatory response. Inflammation has been linked with a wide range of disorders, including everything from chronic pain to anxiety. Users report that CBD might help with conditions that include:

  • Epilepsy
  • Muscle spasms and Restless Leg Syndrome
  • Depression, social anxiety, and PTSD
  • Severe nausea and cachexia
  • Insomnia
  • Irregular appetite and body weight instability
  • Vasoconstriction and other precursors to heart disease
