Iran, situated in the middle of Western Asia and is surrounded by a number of nations that struggle with transnational drug trade issues. Because of its unique position as a crossroads in Asia, Iran is subject to persistent issues with drug trafficking that threaten the political stability of the regime.

Is CBD Oil Allowed In Iran?

In 1989, the Iranian government proposed a law that prescribed the death penalty for simple possession of high THC compounds, like hashish or marijuana, in excess of five kilograms. Despite the harsh laws that are technically still in effect, cannabis and hemp law is not very strictly enforced in Iran.

The country has a long history of cannabis and hemp use. To this day, a large percentage of the population continues to grow family owned hemp plots and cultivates them in traditional ways. Hemp use spread to Persia through the Aryan tribes that expanded westward out of Central Asia in the 4th century CE, providing the substance a long history of spiritual use.

Ever since drug traffickers have started increasing local problems with opiates and heroin, Iranian government has clamped down on family growers, individual consumers, and dealers. Possession of hemp flowers and seeds could be punishable by hefty fines and lashings; however, intent to produce must be proven before a consumer is imprisoned.

Though industrially certified hemp doesn’t contain enough THC to be considered illicit, consumers and travelers should still be wary about importing CBD into the country. Officials may not be able to differentiate between controlled substances and the non-addictive, non-psychoactive CBD treatments. Customs officials are continually improving their personnel and techniques for capturing minor drug traffickers.

When in doubt, consumers should only travel with CBD Isolate products, which contain absolutely no THC content. Despite this it is not recommended that travelers to Iran bring CBD into the country as the benefit does not outweigh the risk.

What Are The Benefits Of Regular CBD Oil Use?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, constitutes only one of the over 120 active compounds in strains of hemp. Research has allegedly linked regular CBD oil consumption with better sleep, improved mood, and increased ability to cope with painful chronic conditions. CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help inhibit the immune system’s harmful inflammatory response. CBD might help conditions as diverse as:

  • Vasoconstriction
  • Severe nausea and cachexia
  • Muscle spasms and Restless Leg Syndrome
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome and poor gut health
  • Epilepsy and other seizure disorders, especially in children

Depression, anxiety, and PTSD
