Is CBD Legal in Chad?

by in International Law September 27, 2019

The laws that surround cannabis, CBD and industrial hemp can often be vague and confusing. Depending on location, there can be variations in what is legal and what is not. Most of the confusion that surrounds these products comes from a lack of understanding of the differences between them, especially THC and CBD.

What is the difference between CBD and THC? Are THC and CBD the same thing?

  • CBD is an acronym that refers to cannabidiol.
  • Cannabidiol is one of over 120 different compounds that are found within the cannabis plant.
  • CBD is derived from the cannabis strain Cannabis Sativa L
  • Cannabis Sativa L is also known as industrial hemp.
  • CBD is non-psychoactive.
  • CBD does NOT create an intoxicating sensation for those who consume it.
  • THC is the abbreviation for tetrahydrocannabinol.
  • Tetrahydrocannabinol is another compound that is found in cannabis.
  • THC is a psychoactive compound.
  • THC is responsible for creating the “high” feeling that is often associated with cannabis use.
  • Legal CBD products, such as CBD tea and oil, contain non-detectable amounts of THC within them.

Results found in recent studies indicate that CBD could possibly be used to treat a variety of medical issues. Some of the conditions that CBD might help treat include the following:

  • Arthritis
  • Inflammatory Conditions
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Chronic Back Pain
  • Nerve Conditions
  • Skin Conditions and Rashes

The Legality of CBD in Chad

Chad, also known as the Republic of Chad is a country that is landlocked in Africa.

Cannabis is illegal in Chad for both recreational and medicinal purposes. There is very little information out there about the punishments and penalties surrounding cannabis or CBD products in Chad.

Because the laws surrounding CBD and cannabis in Chad are vague, it is better to leave your CBD products at home if you plan to travel there.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that there is very little information available on the legality of cannabis and CBD in Chad. Those who use CBD products should either travel with a prescription or leave their CBD products at home to ensure that they do not face severe penalties for possessing them.

The lack of information in certain countries or territories can be frustrating. With many countries moving forward with the acceptance of CBD and cannabis, hopefully, the countries that still consider these products illegal will follow suit.

Those who use CBD products need to remain informed on the laws that surround these products, not only where they live, but also if they plan to travel to different states, countries or territories.
