CBD Benefits

If you live in a place where CBD is legal (a rapidly growing list), you’ve likely noticed it: CBD is everywhere. That’s because some scientific evidence and a growing pool of users have found the chemical to be very helpful for dealing with a variety of physical and emotional problems.

More research is needed, but preliminary evidence seems to indicate that CBD can be beneficial over a few different areas. Here’s a quick look at the potential benefits of taking CBD.

Prescription Drugs

In the United States, one prescription drug currently available which come in CBD form: Epidiolex, which is used in the treatment of two rare seizure disorders in children (Lennox-Gastaut and Davet Syndromes). This drug is also available in many other places throughout the world, including many European countries.

Physical Benefits

CBD is purported to have a variety of physical benefits, including:

  • Pain relief: CBD works by altering your body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoid system, making it more likely to bond with certain molecules that are involved in the regulation of a variety of bodily functions. One of those is pain relief, and numerous studies in rats – as well as countless anecdotal reports – have indicated that CBD can be helpful here.
  • Alleviate cancer symptoms: A variety of studies have indicated that CBD can potentially be helpful in alleviating the worst symptoms which occur from both chemotherapy and cancer. While CBD may help address numerous areas, it appears that it can be most helpful in addressing nausea, lack of appetite and vomiting. It is important to note that, in areas where marijuana and CBD are legal for medical reasons only, addressing cancer symptoms is often one of the reasons allowed.
  • Skin benefits: Numerous reports have indicated that CBD may be helpful in addressing numerous skin benefits, including scar reduction, acne reduction and inflammation. It also appears that CBD may reduce numerous skin problems, including rosacea and eczema.

Emotional Benefits

  • Anxiety & depression: Preliminary evidence demonstrates that CBD may be helpful in addressing symptoms of depression and anxiety, as it appears to have antidepressant effects. It may also help in mitigating the worst impacts of PTSD.
  • Sleep help: Some reports indicate that CBD can help individuals relax and sleep better, potentially indicating that CBD can assist in getting a good night’s sleep.

It is important to note that further study is needed to examine CBD. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has not validated any of these claims – indeed, they have warned companies which market CBD has being able to cure numerous health ailments to stop doing so.
